How to Host a Core Keeper Server (2026 Setup Guide)
Core Keeper's crossplay Direct Connect makes hosting simple — one IP, every platform. Here's how to pick the right world mode, RAM tier and join settings before your group starts digging.
Choose your world mode before you generate the world: Normal, Hard, Casual or Creative. This is a one-way choice — Core Keeper can't convert a world between Creative and non-Creative later — so decide what your group actually wants to play first, not after a few hours in.
Set a RAM tier for how far your group will explore. A small group exploring together is comfortable on 4GB, 6GB is the sweet spot for most servers, and 8GB covers large communities running a heavy mod stack.
Set a Direct Connect join password at signup if you want the server private — up to 28 characters, changeable later from the start script. Leave it blank for an open server.
Share the server IP, not a Steam invite. The server binds to IP:27015, so Steam, Epic, GOG and Microsoft players all join the same world by entering that IP in Core Keeper's Direct Connect menu — that's what makes crossplay work here.
Let the automatic backup schedule do its job. Backups run every 6 hours with one-click restore, and every stop is a graceful world flush — so a bad update or a mod gone wrong is never a full world loss.
