How to Host an Auto-TerraFirmaCraft Server
Auto-TerraFirmaCraft is a rare fusion on Forge 1.18.2: TerraFirmaCraft's realistic geology and metallurgy — rock layers, ore formation, primitive smelting — paired with Create's industrial automation layer built on top of it. Hosting it well comes down to giving TFC's heavier world generation enough RAM and letting both mod systems finish initializing before anyone logs in.
Start with a 7 GB RAM floor. Auto-TerraFirmaCraft runs TerraFirmaCraft's full geology simulation — rock layer generation, ore vein placement, realistic erosion — on top of Create's contraption and kinetic-power systems, and that combination needs more headroom than a plain TFC or plain Create server. 7 GB is the minimum that keeps chunk generation and Create's mechanical calculations from fighting each other on first load.
Import the modpack through a proper modpack installer instead of copying files from a client export. TFC bakes world generation settings (rock layer distribution, ore rarity) into the world at creation, and a half-matched client export can leave you with mismatched config defaults that silently change ore spawn rates or smelting temperatures from what the pack intended.
Watch the console through the first full boot before doing anything else. TFC's chunk generation is heavier than vanilla because of the geology pass, and Create registers its kinetic network and contraption assemblers during startup — both need to finish cleanly with no repeating errors before you consider the server ready.
Only invite players after that first boot has completed without errors. Letting people log in while TFC is still generating initial chunks or Create is still registering its block entities is the most common cause of early corrupted chunks on this kind of fused modpack.
Take a backup before any world import, loader update, or config change. TFC progress is slow to rebuild — primitive smelting setups, discovered ore veins, and seasonal crop timing all take real playtime — and a bad update can also break Create contraption blueprints that players have spent hours assembling.
Use a cleaner Auto-TerraFirmaCraft (TFC + Create) path
CoalHost is built around modpack hosting, which makes Auto-TerraFirmaCraft (TFC + Create) much less annoying to launch correctly.
