How to Host an FTB Revelation Server (2026 Guide)

FTB Revelation is the Feed the Beast team's flagship kitchen-sink pack on Forge 1.12.2 — IndustrialCraft, Thermal Expansion, Botania, Applied Energistics, and Tinkers' Construct all in one stable, well-documented package. It's the classic, non-expert FTB experience, which makes it noticeably lighter and more approachable to host than its expert-mode cousin, Enigmatica 2: Expert, despite covering much of the same 1.12.2 tech ground.

1

Start with at least 6 GB of RAM. FTB Revelation is a genuine kitchen-sink pack — IndustrialCraft, Thermal Expansion, Botania, Applied Energistics, Tinkers' Construct, and a stack of exploration mods all run at once — so 6 GB is the real floor, not a guess, and it matches the pack's own recommended allocation.

2

Import the modpack directly from the official FTB/CurseForge release rather than rebuilding it from a client export. A clean server-side import on Forge 1.12.2 avoids missing server jars, mismatched mod versions, and config drift that a manually copied client folder almost always introduces.

3

Watch the console through the full first boot. On a pack this size you want to see world generation, Forge's mod loading pass, and the tech-mod registries (IC2 ore gen, AE2 network init, Thermal Expansion machine recipes) all finish without errors before you consider the server ready.

4

Only invite players after that first clean startup completes. FTB Revelation's chunk loading gets heavier fast once AE2 networks, Botania gardens, and Tinkers' tool stations are in play, so a server that hasn't proven a stable boot will struggle once real builds start.

5

Take a backup before importing an existing world, updating the Forge build, or touching mod configs. Lose an AE2 ME network, a tuned Botania mana setup, or a modified Tinkers' material file on this pack and you're looking at hours of rebuilt automation, not a quick fix.

Use a cleaner FTB Revelation path

CoalHost is built around modpack hosting, which makes FTB Revelation much less annoying to launch correctly.
