How to Host an FTB Ultimate Reloaded Server

FTB Ultimate Reloaded is FTB's modern reimagining of the classic Ultimate pack on Forge 1.12.2, built around old-school industrial mods like IndustrialCraft, BuildCraft, EnderIO, and Thermal Expansion with no overpowered shortcuts — just trains for travel and real automation chains. It's the lowest-RAM option in our catalog, which makes it a good nostalgia pick for groups on tighter hardware rather than a modern kitchen-sink pack like Direwolf20 or Revelation.

1

Start from a 5 GB RAM floor. FTB Ultimate Reloaded is the lowest-RAM pack in our catalog — it's a Forge 1.12.2 pack, not a modern 1.18+ kitchen-sink pack, so it doesn't need the 8-10 GB you'd set aside for something newer. 5 GB covers the base mod set and leaves headroom once a few players are building out factories.

2

Import the modpack directly instead of guessing from a client export. Deploy FTB Ultimate Reloaded from our modpack catalog so the server gets the exact Forge 1.12.2 version and mod list the pack ships with — hand-copying a client's mods folder is the most common way old 1.12.2 packs end up with mismatched mod versions.

3

Watch the first boot closely. Forge 1.12.2 packs with IndustrialCraft, BuildCraft, EnderIO, and Thermal Expansion all loaded together can take a few minutes to generate recipes and register blocks on first launch — let the console settle on "Done" before assuming something's wrong.

4

Invite players only after that first clean startup. Confirm the world loads, chunks generate, and nobody's dropped into a half-initialized world before opening the server to your group.

5

Take a backup before any world import, Forge version bump, or config change. This pack is built around real automation chains and rail networks you build by hand over dozens of hours — there's no quick way to regenerate a factory line or a trainline if a bad update corrupts the save.

CoalHost is built around modpack hosting, which makes FTB Ultimate Reloaded much less annoying to launch correctly.
