The founder behind CoalHost
Hi, I'm Kasperi.
Founder of CoalHost.
I'm a Minecraft player first, a developer second. I built CoalHost because every other hosting provider gave me lag, broken restarts, or 24-hour support tickets.
Why CoalHost exists
In 2025 I was running a hardcore modpack server for my friends. One pack, around 350 mods, permadeath rules — the kind of server that punishes every dropped tick. Apex's TPS dropped to 12 every evening. Bisect's restart broke our world twice. A bigger provider answered support tickets after roughly 48 hours.
None of that is acceptable when a single tick spike can end a player's hardcore run. So I rebuilt the panel from scratch — with ZGC, memory-leak detection, an AI crash analyzer, and a shared recipe database that learns each modpack's quirks once and applies the fix to every customer running it. Things hosts in this space haven't built.
Now anyone can run their pack on it. Same panel, same hardware, same hand-tuned defaults that keep my own friends' world alive.
What I'm building
Four commitments, each backed by a public page so you can hold me to it.
01
Reliability-first
Crash analyzer, OOM predictor, memory-leak detection, pre-boot smoke tests. The boring infrastructure work most hosts skip.

02
Modpack-first
One-click install from Modrinth, CurseForge, FTB and ATLauncher. Per-pack tunings shared across every customer running the pack.

03
Transparent pricing
€2 / GB RAM. Player slots tiered, all numbers public. No setup fees, no trial-then-rug, no upsell at checkout.

04
Public roadmap
The list of things shipped, in progress, and on deck. Includes the things that aren't done yet, because hiding those is how trust breaks.

The team
Currently: one person (me) on the panel and infrastructure, plus Rasmus on the modpack agent. Operating since 2025, EU-based (Finland + Helsinki datacenter).
No VCs. No marketing budget. Just code and a Hetzner bill. This means support comes directly from the person who wrote the code you're running on — not a tier-1 ticketing pool reading from a script.
It also means I won't pretend to be a 500-person enterprise. If you need 24/7 phone support with an SLA, I'm not the host for you. If you want a server that just keeps your modpack alive and a human who'll actually look at your crash log, we should talk.
Trust signals
Why you can verify the claims on this page
All four of these are public, and you can check them independently without taking my word for it.
EU data residency
Game servers run in Hetzner's Helsinki datacenter. Customer data and backups stay in the EU, under GDPR jurisdiction. No cross-Atlantic data transfers for storage.
Hetzner Cloud (Helsinki)
Bare-metal-class compute on one of Europe's most reliable infrastructure providers. Same datacenter family powering large fintech and SaaS operators across the EU.
Stripe billing
Payments processed by Stripe — never see your card number directly. PCI-DSS, 3D Secure, EU SEPA support. Cancel any time from the customer portal.
Anthropic Claude for AI
The crash analyzer uses Anthropic's Claude. Crash logs are sent ephemerally for analysis and are not retained or used to train models. American vendor, but no persistent customer data leaves the EU.
Reach me directly
Three ways to get in touch — pick whichever fits. The email and Discord both go to me first; there's no ticket pool in between.
