Palworld Server Settings Guide
Which settings actually matter? Every PalWorldSettings.ini option explained, with recommended values for casual, normal and hardcore groups.
XP & Progression
ExpRateExperience gain multiplier. Increase if your group doesn't have time to grind — 1.5x makes progression feel smooth without removing challenge.
PalCaptureRatePal capture rate multiplier. Vanilla capture rates are frustrating. 2.0x makes catching Pals feel rewarding without trivializing it.
PalExpRatePal XP gain multiplier. Increase alongside ExpRate to keep your Pals leveled with your character.
Base & Building
WorkSpeedRatePal work speed at base. Increasing this is the biggest quality-of-life change you can make — Pals will produce resources and craft items much faster.
DropItemMaxNumMax items on the ground. Increase if you're running a larger server to prevent items despawning during base raids.
BaseCampMaxNumMax base camp buildings. Usually fine at default, but lower if you're having server performance issues.
Combat & Difficulty
DamagePlayerToPlayerPlayer-to-player damage multiplier. For a friendly co-op server, reduce to 0.0 (no friendly fire) or 0.5 to make PvP less punishing.
DamagePlayerToPalPlayer damage to Pals. Leave at 1.0 for balanced PvE. Increase slightly if fighting alpha Pals feels too tanky.
EnemyDropItemRateLoot drop rate from enemies. Doubling this makes exploration and combat feel rewarding, especially early game.
Time & World
DayTimeSpeedRateDay length multiplier. Lower values make days longer. If your group is casual, 0.5x gives you more time to build before night.
NightTimeSpeedRateNight length multiplier. Speeding up nights (higher value = shorter nights) lets casual players avoid the frustrating dark period. 4.0 makes nights quick.
PalStomachDecreaceRateHow fast Pals get hungry. Halving this means your Pals need feeding half as often — much less micromanagement.
Death & Respawn
DeathPenaltyWhat you drop on death: None, Item, ItemAndEquipment, or All. For a casual friends server, None removes frustrating death loops.
GuildPlayerMaxNumMax players per guild. Default is fine for most groups. Only increase if running a large community server.
