Install a modpack
Browse Modrinth, CurseForge, FTB and ATLauncher, or import a packwiz manifest or server-pack archive. CoalHost sets the right loader automatically whenever the provider exposes a server-ready build.
During registration
The fastest path: pick a modpack while creating your account.
- Open the register page.
- In the "What should we preinstall?" field, search by name (e.g. All the Mods 9).
- Click your modpack — server software and version lock automatically.
- Continue to checkout. The modpack installs after your first payment.
On an existing server
- Open the server in the dashboard.
- Go to Modpacks tab.
- Search and install. Existing world data stays intact unless you opt to wipe it.
Import from other launchers or custom packs
- Paste a direct
.mrpack,.zipor publicpack.tomlURL into the import form. - Or upload a local
.mrpack/.zipfile from your computer. - CoalHost resolves the archive or packwiz manifest, creates a backup, then installs the matching loader and files.
Heads up: Big modpacks (300+ mods) need 6–8 GB RAM minimum. Upgrade your plan first via the billing portal if your current RAM is too low — otherwise the server may crash on startup.
Recommended RAM by modpack size
| Modpack size | Minimum RAM | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Small (≤ 100 mods) | 4 GB | Better MC, Cobblemon |
| Medium (100–250 mods) | 6 GB | Create: Astral, Prominence II |
| Large (250–400 mods) | 8 GB | All the Mods 9 |
| Massive (400+ mods) | 10–12 GB | FTB Skies Expert |
Switch modpacks later
You can install a different modpack any time. Use Modpacks → Switch on the server page — back up your world first if you want to keep it.
