Questions

Project Zomboid hosting FAQ.

Things people ask before signing up.

How much RAM does a Project Zomboid server need?
Vanilla PZ runs on 2–4 GB for 4 players. Modded servers want 6–8 GB minimum, especially with map mods like Bedford Falls or large modpacks. For a 16+ player server with mods, allocate 12 GB.
Can I install Steam Workshop mods?
Yes. Add Workshop Mod IDs and Map IDs in the panel, restart the server, and they auto-install. We provide a built-in Workshop browser to find popular mods.
How many players does Project Zomboid support?
Up to 32 players per dedicated server. CoalHost has no extra fee for the first 10 slots, then a small per-slot surcharge.
Do you support B42 (Build 42)?
Yes. Both Build 41 (current stable) and Build 42 unstable branch are supported. Switch builds from the settings panel.
Can I customize sandbox settings (zombie population, etc)?
Yes. The panel exposes the full SandboxVars file as a form: zombie count, lore, transmission, time, XP, loot rarity and 100+ other options.
